Explore Brighton Shopping

Brighton doesn't do chain stores. Well, it has them — but nobody comes here for those. This is a city where vintage shops outnumber Starbucks, where you can find a first-edition paperback next to a hand-printed gig poster, and where the phrase "just browsing" can legitimately eat an entire afternoon.

The North Laine is the epicentre — a grid of narrow streets packed with independent shops, vintage dealers, and the kind of places that sell things you didn't know existed but suddenly need. The Lanes, Brighton's original medieval alleyways, are the place for jewellery, antiques, and boutique fashion. But look further and you'll find gems in Kemptown, along Church Road in Hove, and tucked into the side streets everywhere in between.

Brighton has one of the best vintage scenes in the UK. Snoopers Paradise in North Laine is a cavernous treasure trove of antiques, vintage, and oddities. To Be Worn Again has curated vintage fashion. Beyond Retro has a huge selection. There are also dozens of charity shops with unusually good stock, especially in Kemptown and along London Road.
