Victorian aquarium with underwater tunnel on the seafront

About SEA LIFE Brighton

The world's oldest operating aquarium has been on Marine Parade since 1872, and the Victorian building alone is worth seeing. The underwater tunnel is the highlight, with sharks and rays passing overhead. Rockpool touch pools, tropical reef fish, interactive displays that hold kids' attention. Right next to the Palace Pier, so it's an easy add-on to a seafront day. Book online because the weekend queues can be grim. Pre-booking is cheaper too. Good rainy-day plan for families, couples, pretty much anyone.

FAQ: SEA LIFE Brighton

How long does a visit to SEA LIFE Brighton take?
Allow 1.5 to 2 hours to see everything. There are over 5,500 creatures across multiple themed zones, plus interactive displays and daily talks and feeds that are worth timing your visit around.
How much do SEA LIFE Brighton tickets cost?
Prices vary by date and demand — booking online in advance is always cheaper than buying at the door. Under-2s get in free. A local annual pass starts from £36 and pays for itself after two visits. Check visitsealife.com/brighton for current prices.
Do I need to book SEA LIFE Brighton tickets in advance?
Yes, booking online is strongly recommended. It guarantees entry on busy days (weekends and school holidays sell out) and saves money compared to the gate price. You will need to select a time slot.
Is SEA LIFE Brighton accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs?
The aquarium is wheelchair accessible throughout, including the underwater tunnel. Pushchairs can be taken round but it gets tight in places during busy periods. There are accessible toilets on site.
Is SEA LIFE Brighton good for toddlers?
It works well for under-5s. The rockpool touch pools, interactive displays and the underwater tunnel all hold young children's attention. The dimly lit sections and shark encounters can be a bit much for very nervous toddlers, but most love it. Under-2s are free.
