The Yummy Fur 7 Oct 2026

The Yummy Fur, an indie rock band from Glasgow, formed in 1992 and were active until 1999. The band was centred around singer and guitarist John McKeown, who later formed the group 1990s. Drummer Paul Thomson and multi-instrumentalist Alex Kapranos, both future members of Franz Ferdinand, also played with The Yummy Fur.

BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel was a supporter of their music, inviting them to record two Peel Sessions in 1995 and 1998. The band’s sound blends indie-alternative and metal-punk elements.
