About Brighton Insider

Brighton Insider is an independent local guide to Brighton & Hove. We're here to help residents and visitors find brilliant places to eat, drink, explore, and enjoy — from seafront institutions to tucked-away neighbourhood gems.

We cover over 1,200 businesses across the city, from restaurants and pubs to galleries, shops, and live music venues. We also keep track of what's on — gigs, exhibitions, comedy nights, markets, festivals, and everything in between.

What makes us different

Brighton Insider isn't a generic directory. Every listing is written with local knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for the city. We don't do generic blurb or copy-paste descriptions. If a place is worth knowing about, we tell you why — honestly and without corporate waffle.

Who's behind Brighton Insider

Brighton Insider is founded and edited by Matt Baker. Matt built the site because he got tired of generic, out-of-date listings and wanted something that actually reflected what locals know — where's good, what's open, and what's worth your time. Every guide, listing, and recommendation on the site is researched and written with that same standard.

Matt is based in Brighton and writes and edits the site's guides and reviews personally — reviews only go up after real visits, never from copied listings.
